Sheep Husbandry department organizes farmers tour under ATMA UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 09: Department of Sheep Husbandry Udhampur today organized Training for Farmers under centrally sponsored Scheme-ATMA for the year 2023-24. District Sheep Husbandry Officer Udhampur, Dr. Farhat Bashir flagged off the tour of thirty Sheep Farmers from different Blocks of District Udhampur, to Government Sheep Breeding farm Panthal, District Reasi to learn latest scientific techniques in rearing sheep. The farmers visited various sections of Government Sheep Breeding farm Panthal for on spot practices being undertaken in feeding and management of Government Sheep on scientific lines besides Embryo Transfer Technology (ETT) and Artificial Insemination (AI) in Sheep and Goat under Holistic Agriculture Development Program. The farmers were educated regarding latest sheep Husbandry Practices by delivering lectures, through banners, posters and distribution of resource material among the farmers. Assistant Director Government Sheep Breeding Farm Panthal, Dr. Deepak Kichloo Delivered lecture and apprised the visiting farmers regarding scientific practices of sheep rearing for increasing mutton and wool production in order to enhance socio economic status of sheep rearing communities. During the tour, farmers were also educated regarding income generating schemes like Integrated Sheep Development Scheme (ISDS), Tribal Sub plan scheme (TSP) and Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP) Scheme for overall benefit of Sheep farming communities to double the income through distribution of resource material. Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon accompanied the tour who made required arrangements of catering, transport etc. for smooth organizing of tour and making the whole event a successful activity.
