MLA Udhampur East listens to people’s issues at Khoon

UDHAMPUR, APRIL 01: To address public grievances and assess services delivery, Member Legislative Assembly Udhampur East Ranbir Singh Pathania today presided over a public outreach cum grievances redressal camp at Block  Khoon.

The camp witnessed active participation from District Officers,  former PRI members and the general public from across the panchayats of Block Khoon.

The people projected multiple developmental demands, including Installation of a new transformer and solar lights, construction of a footbridge, resolving the issue of inflated electricity bills, Installation of a tube well, provision of electricity poles, augmentation of water supply, installation of mast lights at Khoon Shiv Temple, Provision of hand pumps, Upgradation of transformers, Upgradation of the road network in Mottu Panchayat, development of a playground, filling up of vacant government posts, Upgradation of Chowgaan Thial road etc.

Responding to the projected demands, the MLA   assured the public that the same would be addressed promptly. He issued instructions to the concerned officers for the early redressal of genuine grievances and fulfillment of public demands. He emphasized that public grievances redressal camps are instrumental in resolving people's concerns within a stipulated time frame and urged officers to proactively visit communities to ensure timely delivery of basic amenities.

A significant number of grievances were resolved on the spot through direct intervention and directives to the concerned departmental officers.  Pathania also instructed officers to work with a missionary zeal to prevent any deprivation of essential services.

Furthermore, he encouraged government officers to raise awareness among the public about various income-generating and beneficiary-oriented schemes launched by the Government of India, ensuring that eligible citizens reap their benefits.

During the interaction, the public raised multiple grievances, particularly concerning the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).  MLA Pathania directed the concerned officials to expedite pending JJM projects and address bottlenecks such as inadequate pipe sizes, issues with High-Density Polyethylene (HDP) pipes, and the availability of sustainable water sources. He emphasized that the dream of Har Ghar Jal must be realized at the grassroots level in Udhampur East.

He further took cognizance of the issue of excessive electricity bills and assured the public that corrective measures will be taken. He directed authorities, particularly Tehsildar Majalta, to ensure strict implementation of the Public Services Guarantee Act to provide hassle-free and transparent services to the people.

Responding to grievances related to the education sector, Mr. Pathania urged the Education Department to start rationalization of staff in schools, addressing teacher shortages and grievances efficiently. He also emphasized the urgent need for infrastructural improvements in sports facilities, advocating for the development of new sports complexes and renovation of existing playgrounds to encourage youth participation in sports and fitness activities.

The event also witnessed the participation of senior officials from various departments, including Tehsildar Majalta, Executive Engineer, Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEs), and officers from other line departments. A large number of locals attended the event, actively voicing their concerns and appreciating the initiatives undertaken.

Prominent attendees also included Romesh Chander Gupta, Surinder Singh, Manoj Verma, Nimarta Bali, Shiv Ram, Subhash Chander, Surinder Mankotia, and Ved Pal, among others.
