Driving Skill test to be conducted on all working days, fixed 150
slot quota per day for District Jammu: Transport Commissioner
JAMMU, MARCH 5: Transport
Commissioner, Jammu and Kashmir, Vishesh Mahajan today chaired a comprehensive
meeting to review the services provided by the Motor Vehicles Department. The
meeting was attended by RTO Jammu, Jasmeet Singh, Assistant Transport
Commissioner, ARTO Headquarters, ARTO Board of Inspection (Passenger &
Goods), ARTO Flying Squad, along with Motor Vehicle Inspectors (MVIS), Sub
Motor Vehicle Inspectors (SMVI), and Motor Vehicle Traffic Assistant (MVTA).
During the meeting, RTO Jammu was
directed to rationalise the existing daily slots for driving tests so that
sufficient time be ensured for testing proper skills of applicant by the
testing board and asked to update 150 slots per day for all class of vehicles
in Jammu district. He further instructed to increase the trial test days from
three to six so that the aspiring applicants do not face any difficulties in
booking slots as per their convenience and availability.
Emphasizing the need for strict
adherence to technical guidelines, the Transport Commissioner directed all
ARTOS and MVIS to follow prescribed protocols while issuing fitness
certificates for vehicles. To eliminate bottlenecks in the inspection process,
He instructed the concerned quarter for deployment of an additional Motor
Vehicle Inspector (MVI) in Board of Inspection (P&G) to ensure thorough
vehicle inspections as per set parameters.
