SWD Kishtwar starts camps to provide
free aids, devices to Divyangjans endowed by NHPC under CSR
KISHTWAR, NOVEMBER
20: District Social Welfare Department Kishtwar on Wednesday commenced its
series of camps to provide free aids and assistive devices to differently abled
persons. The Aids and devices have been made available by NHPC (National
Hydroelectric Power Corporation Ltd) under the Corporate Social Responsibility
(CSR).
As many as 154
identified Divyangjans (Persons with Disabilities - PwDs) would be provided different assistive devices
at these camps scheduled from 20th to 23rd November 2024 in different blocks of
the District Kishtwar.
This initiative is
being executed by Social Welfare Department in collaboration with the
Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Mohali (Punjab)
Unit, which operates under the aegis of the Department of Empowerment of
Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment
(MoSJE), Government of India, in coordination with the District administration
Kishtwar.
The beneficiaries
identified by the Social Welfare Department, will receive 270 aids and
assistive devices of various categories, valued at approximately Rs. 13.43
lakh.
The identification
and registration of beneficiaries were conducted in July and September 2023 by
ALIMCO, in association with the District Administration Kishtwar.
The distribution
includes 02 Joystick Wheelchairs, 66 Regular Wheelchairs, 89 Walking Sticks, 12
Crutches, 42 Hearing Aids, 05 Smartphones, 03 Braille Canes, 06 Braille Slates,
06 Braille Kits, 12 Sugamya Canes, 01 Rollator, 01 CP Chair, 25 Artificial
Limbs and Calipers.
Representatives
from the District Administration, ALIMCO teams, and the District Social Welfare
Department were present on the occasion to oversee the event and ensure its
smooth execution.
