Transport Department acts tough against Violators
Challans 598 vehicles across Jammu Division, recovers Rs. 19.26
lakh as fine
JAMMU, NOVEMBER 09: To tighten noose
around the traffic violators, a series of vigorous enforcement drives were
conducted by Motor Vehicle Department across Jammu Division against the
instances of overloading of Passenger vehicles and other major violations under
the Motor Vehicle Act and Central Motor Vehicle Rules.

Department launched the special enforcement drive under the guidance of Bhawani
Rakwal, Transport Commissioner J&K, laying Nakas across Jammu division
especially on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The special focus of today's
drive was to check overloading, RC violation, Route Permit violations etc.
During the Enforcement Drive nearly
1240 vehicles, which included Buses, Tippers, School Buses, Mini-Buses, Tourist
Buses, Goods Carriers, Tractors, Private vehicles etc. were checked for various
offences viz. Route Permit violations, Overloading, Over speeding, without Seat
Belt, without SLD etc.
A total 598 vehicles were e-challaned
under sections viz a viz 194D-(Without Helmet), 66/192A-(R/P Violations),
190(II)-(Without Pollution), 194A- (Overload Passengers), 179-(Disobedience),
194B-(Without Seat Belt), 177-(General Offence), 146/196-(Without Insurance),
56/192-(Fitness Violations), 184-(Dangerous Driving), Wrong Parking, SLD
violations, Unauthorized Alterations, 194 C (Triple Riding), 39/192-(R/c
violations), 1941A Overhang, Passenger in Goods Vehicle etc.
A total of Rs.19.26 lakh was
recovered as fine from the violators.
The enforcement was conducted under
the direct supervision of Pankaj Bhagotra, RTO, Jammu, by several enforcement
teams headed by ARTO's of respective Districts of Jammu Division along with
MVI's, SMVI's and MVTA's.
